About Dale

Accredited Practising Dietitian,
Credentialled Diabetes Educator,
Personal Trainer

My Professional Background & Philosophy

  • I’m Dale Cooke, dietitian, diabetes educator and personal trainer. I’ve been helping people to improve their nutrition for over 30 years. I’ve always been interested in fitness and my interest in diabetes was sparked when my husband was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes many years ago. I have helped many people manage both type 1 and type 2 diabetes, to manage chronic health conditions like heart disease, and to help others lose or gain weight. Over the years many people also asked me for exercise advice so I went on to study fitness as well. I just love learning!
  • I’m an Accredited Practising Dietitian with Dietitians Australia, a registered Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Trainer with AusACTIVE, and a Credentialled Diabetes Educator with the Australian Diabetes Educator’s Association.
  • I have a philosophy that there isn’t just one right way to achieve your goals, there are many paths to the same endpoint.
  • I believe you don’t have to look like a movie star or instagram model to be fit and healthy!
  • I have lived experience as a carer of someone living with diabetes.
  • I also have my own personal health challenges, including having ageing joints. I won’t let them stop me though!

My Personal Background

  • I live in Brisbane with my husband and a menagerie of birds, chooks, fish and dog.
  • I’m a mum of two grown up children.
  • I love bushwalking, walking in general, keeping fit at my local gym, cooking, and socialising with family and friends.
  • Camping and travelling are on my to do list, too. 🙂

“Everyone can work towards being a fitter and healthier version of themselves. It needs a bit of expert help and empathy. And you need to allow yourself time and show yourself kindness.”
